On May 8th, a three-person delegation of Southampton Solent University led by the Vice President Mr. Mike Wilkson paid a visit to SIT. This visitation aimed to further deepen mutual understanding and to enhance mutual communication. During the visit, the Vice President of SIT Ye Yinzhong met with the delegation. Representatives from the School of Economics & Management, the School of Materials Science & Engineering and the School of Art & Design participated in the meeting.
On behalf of SIT, VP Ye extended warm welcome to Mr. Mike and his delegation. He also expressed his appreciation to SSU for the cordial hospitality to SIT delegation last year. VP Ye said that from 2011 both sides had carried out fruitful exchanges on the level of faculties and students in the fields of art and other disciplines. The high-level visits between two parties would definitely lay a solid foundation for future cooperation.
Mr. Mike also extended SSU President’s regards to SIT and introduced the subject settings and the discipline advantages of SSU. He expressed the wish to conduct further cooperation in more fields.
After the meeting, both parties signed an official Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation. VP Mike and his delegation also visited the School of Engineering & Innovation and the student training base.
Southampton Solent University is located in Southampton, a well-known harbor city in south UK; and it is a comprehensive public university with an enrollment of 20,000 students and 2,000 faculty members. The university emphasizes the education concept of combination of practice and theory. The university has three departments, Department of Arts and Media, Department of Engineering Technology and Department of Maritime Science. Among the disciplines, art & design and maritime science are its strengths. The world-famous Titanic set sail from the city to the Atlantic Ocean. With only a few Chinese students, the university has about 1,600 oversea students, most of which come from Saudi Arabia
